7DRL 2021 - Success!

Well, I've got another success this year for the 7DRL. And my countdown timer says 1:24:51 remaining as I'm typing this sentence, so I'm just under the wire!

This is definitely not quite the game I set out to make. It kind of transformed into a party-based roguelike while I wasn't looking, and I spent a long time architecting that in an attempt to ensure that everything would just nicely fall out of the code instead of being a mess of special cases. It's still a bit fuzzy around the edges, particularly the stuff I wrote today at the very end to patch over some bugs. But for folding that whole design into the original mix, I'm pretty happy with how that part of it turned out. I'd like to come back and revisit the game to get all the content I cut at the last minute in; there's an extensive prefab system that's barely getting used right now, because I just didn't have time to hack out nice prefabs to put in the levels. And I didn't have any time whatsoever to test it, so I'm gonna have to just play the published version a lot to get a feel for what the post-judging balance patch should be tweaking. I also imagine there's plenty of bugs to be found and fixed over the coming weeks.

That said: It's a playable game, it can definitely be beaten-- I can't prove that to you that the GOOD END ending is possible yet, because I haven't beaten my own game-- and I think it's kind of cute. Success!
